Agrosoft Pig Production Breeding
Herd Output Calculator
This calculator helps a pig producer to take look at two key performance indicators (KPI’s) and the relation of these to the production output measured in weight of pigmeat sold.
To use the calculator by overwriting the example, first enter the business targets for;
- Herd size
- Born Alive per litter
- Pre & Post weaning mortality %
- The Sale weight in live-weight (Kgs)
- Killing out %
- Farrowing rate %
- Pregnancy period
- Suckling period
- Wean to service interval
This will produce the output targets. Follow this by entering the current herd performance.
Production period length in days i.e. 7, 21, 35 or whatever up to 365
- Number of sows mated in the production period
- Farrowing Rate%
- Born Alive per litter
- Pre-weaning mortality %
When you have entered the figures press
This will produce the current output prediction and the variation against target for the production period entered. The Calculator reports two KPI’s in relation to output.
- Service management (Mating)
- Litter management (Weaning)
The purpose of this is to highlight the impact of service and litter management upon output. In the example stored on the webpage the reduced farrowing rate% and number of animals mated in the current period of one week has reduced the output per mating by 124 Kgs deadweight. The reduction in born alive which is offset by the improvement in pre-weaning mortality has reduced the output per weaned litter by 81.49 Kgs deadweight. These figures are significant and can be used to help the staff involved in service management and litter management put a value on their achievements week by week or batch by batch.
